My mama's family is from New Orleans so I have been going there for as long as I can remember. There's only one place like it. And not just New Orleans itself, it's also every little town around it. My first Mardi Gras, my first cup of coffee (mostly milk) at 8 years old in the French Quarter, Po Boys (for those who don't know, it's the best sandwich on earth), summers at my Grandma's in Gretna with her huge magnolia tree and my great aunt living next door, crabbin' and crawfishin' at Grand Isle, my love of food so spicy it makes your eyes water, that New Orleans accent!, leaving red gladiolas at my great grandma's grave in Metairie Cemetery where my mama's family is buried, the history of the ages. It's a place everyone should get to experience. I will continue to pray for everyone there, gone, remembered, those in Gulfport(my mama, she's okay), Biloxi and everyone affected. I pray that New Orleans will be rebuilt just the way it was, keep all the history, just make the levees stronger and the people safer. And I will pray hurricane Rita stays far, far away.
